Why this podcast exists
Getting curious is how everything changed for me.
One of the things that makes the human experience so awe-inspiring is the concept of curiosity. When we are infants — before life has conditioned us to respond with fear and apprehension — we are inherently curious. We care less about falling or failing and more about finding new things.
I believe that reigniting this sense of creative self-discovery in the recovery process is so useful to our feeling at peace with life and changing behaviour.
"When I became able to shift from a space of judgement of my emotions, situations, past, or future — and into a space of curiosity — everything changed."
I went from "Why is this happening to me?" to "I wonder what this is teaching me?" — or "I wonder where this is coming from, and what I need to deal with it?" This simple shift opened my mind to a space of infinite possibility, where I was less stuck in the problem, and more able to explore it and its solutions.
Starting Curious About Recovery has been such an incredible journey. I have spoken to some of the most interesting people around the world, and I hope that this platform will grow as a space for people to explore and get curious about all avenues of recovery.
Whether you are a sufferer, a professional, or a family member or loved one of someone who is struggling — you are welcome here. Start where you are at, and only growth will follow.
